How much does AI development cost in Dubai? A 2026 price guide
What AI projects cost in Dubai in 2026: our real prices for AI Visibility audits, computer vision pilots and custom AI builds, and what drives the cost.
"How much does it cost?" is the first question almost every UAE business asks about AI, and most agencies answer it with "it depends". It does depend, but not in a mysterious way. This guide gives the real price ranges we quote at Software Stem in Dubai in 2026, explains what moves a project up or down those ranges, and shows how to start without committing a large budget up front.
These are our prices, not a market survey. Other studios will price differently, but the cost drivers below apply to any serious AI project.
The short answer: our 2026 price ranges
| What you get | Price (AED) | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| AI Visibility audit: how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI describe your brand, plus a 30-day plan | 1,900 fixed | 5 business days |
| AI Visibility retainer: implementing the plan and re-measuring monthly | 4,500 to 7,500 per month | Ongoing |
| Computer vision pilot: one camera, one use case, live alerts on your own footage | 12,000 to 18,000 fixed | 2 to 3 weeks |
| Custom machine learning or generative AI build | From 35,000 | 6 to 12 weeks |
All of these are scoped in writing before we start, with a fixed price for the first step and a delivery date. Model usage costs for generative AI, such as API calls to a large language model, are billed separately and estimated up front from your expected volume.
What drives the price of an AI project
1. How clean and available your data is
The biggest hidden cost in AI is not the model, it is the data. A forecasting model built on five years of clean sales records is a few weeks of work. The same model built on spreadsheets with different formats each year, missing months and manual corrections can double the effort, because most of the time goes into cleaning and checking. A short data audit at the start tells you which case you are in before you commit.
2. Off-the-shelf model or custom training
Many problems can be solved with an existing model plus good engineering: an open-vocabulary detector that recognises safety helmets out of the box, or a large language model that answers from your documents through retrieval. Custom training, where we label your own images or records and train a model on them, costs more but is sometimes the only way to reach the accuracy you need. We explain this trade-off for computer vision in YOLO vs open-vocabulary detection.
3. Integration with your existing systems
A model that produces a number in a notebook is cheap. A model that sits inside your CRM, sends alerts to WhatsApp, writes to your ERP and respects user permissions is where most production effort goes. Each system it has to talk to adds time for access, testing and error handling.
4. Arabic and English
Bilingual systems need right-to-left interfaces, prompts and test sets in both languages, and checking that answers are equally good in each. For a customer-facing assistant in the UAE this is usually essential, and it adds a measured amount of work rather than doubling it.
5. Hosting and data residency
Running on a public cloud is the cheapest option. Healthcare, government-adjacent and some finance projects need UAE-hosted or on-premise deployment, which adds setup and sometimes hardware. Computer vision on existing cameras often runs on an ordinary server without a GPU, which keeps costs down.
6. Support after launch
Models drift as your data changes. A demand forecast trained before a new product launch, or a detector trained before the site layout changed, slowly gets worse. Monitoring and periodic retraining are a small ongoing cost that protects the original investment.
Typical project examples
- PPE compliance on a construction site. A two to three week pilot on one camera at AED 12,000 to 18,000, using an open-vocabulary detector so new PPE items can be added without retraining. See our PPE detection project.
- A bilingual assistant for a clinic or brokerage. Answers questions from your own documents or listings in Arabic and English, hands over to a human when needed. Usually from AED 35,000 for a production build after a short prototype.
- A price or cost prediction model. Trained on your historical data or relevant public data, deployed as a simple tool your team can use. Our Dubai construction cost predictor, trained on building permits from 1998 to 2025, is an example of this type of system.
- Getting your brand cited by AI engines. Start with the AED 1,900 audit, then decide whether to implement the plan yourselves or on a monthly retainer.
How to keep the cost down
- Start with one use case. The most expensive AI projects try to solve five problems at once. A pilot on one clear problem shows the value and gives you real numbers for the next decision.
- Use what you already have. Existing cameras, your current CRM, public datasets where they are licensed for the use. Ask for new hardware or new systems only when the pilot proves they are needed.
- Insist on a fixed first step. Any studio should be able to scope a fixed-price discovery or pilot. If the first quote is an open-ended monthly rate with no defined deliverable, ask why.
- Own the result. Make sure the contract gives you the code, the trained model and the data pipeline, so you are not locked in.
Frequently asked questions
Is AI development cheaper in Dubai than in Europe or the US?
Rates vary more between studios than between countries. What a local studio adds is UAE context: Arabic and English, local data and regulations, UAE hosting and the ability to visit your site. Compare on the scope and the first fixed step rather than the hourly rate.
Can I start with a small budget?
Yes. The AED 1,900 AI Visibility audit and the AED 12,000 to 18,000 computer vision pilot exist so you can see results on your own data before committing a larger budget.
What ongoing costs should I expect?
Hosting, model usage for generative AI, and optional monitoring and retraining. We estimate these before you start so the running cost is not a surprise.
